PROJECT MANAGEMENT

XTECH specializes in providing turn-key solutions to Unexploded Ordnance (UXO), Humanitarian Demining and Battle Area clearance issues with expertise in the planning, implementation and control of operations.   A full-service Project Office provides support during all operations.

XTECH specializes in the management of large-scale projects and the hands-on execution of unique projects relating to UXO and Explosive Ordnance Waste (EOW).    Our proven skills managing complex projects are a result of our staff's intensive management training, experience and many years of involvement in the UXO industry.  Our Project Management experience is vast and varied and has been extremely successful for both on-site and remote or virtual management applications.

GIS

XTECH utilizes a Geographic Information System (GIS) platform with fully integrated Global Positioning System (GPS) data collection capabilities which permits us to track and verify all stages of development throughout the project life.  Complete in-house GPS and GIS expertise ensures that project-specific requirements are met with fully customized systems development. The GIS allows areas of concern to be broken into manageable work units providing for safe separation distances between work forces and positive control of both those forces and the areas under scrutiny or in previously completed operations.  The structure and accessibility of XTECH's Information Management Systems (IMS) allows complete integration of project data and provides transparency to stakeholders.

DATA ACQUISITION

EM61 with integrated GPSMagnetometer searchEM Towed Array with GPS integration (MkII)EM Towed Array with GPS integration (MkIII)EM Towed Array with GPS integration (MkIII) (rear)RTK GPSDGPS

XTECH provides complete in-house capabilities for  UXO clearance.

Data acquisition includes all resources required to collect, analyze, verify and distribute site information.  Data acquisition supports the larger aims of the project including target identification, quality control, and quality assurance.  Site specific work plans are developed based on end land use and client needs.

MAGNETOMETER & ELECTROMAGNETIC DETECTION EQUIPMENT

XTECH uses Magnetometer and Electromagnetic (EM) detection equipment.  Equipment configurations that best serve the project objectives are deployed for data collection.  Consideration such as site, ground, time and instrumentation limitations can be overcome using a blend of detection equipment.  UXO survey equipment can be backpacked, wheeled or arrayed.

GPS

XTECH utilizes metre and/or sub-centimetre accuracy for GPS data collection.  Differential and Real-Time Kinematic GPS technologies allow full customization of on-site controls.  GPS technology is utilized for grid control, tracking of UXO and EM data collection.  GPS data is integrated with GIS mapping to assist site control and provide objective quality control.

UXO & EOW SOLUTIONS

Haz-Ex System: Armoured ExcavatorHaz-Ex System: Support VehicleDisposal Operations

XTECH specializes in Unexploded Ordnance and Explosive Ordnance Waste solutions.

HAZ-EX SYSTEM

XTECH has developed a safe, productive and cost-effective solution for large-scale UXO contamination.

The Haz-Ex System consists of a hardened excavator complimented by a remote camera system and a stand-alone support vehicle.  By combining the lightweight ballistic protection of a bonded ceramic composite with a fully integrated system of high tech components (GPS, Wireless Video, Remote Operation Capability) XTECH has developed an effective solution to the problem of remediating buried explosive material.  As a company that is actively utilizing this technology for commercial work, XTECH is able to continually improve the Haz-Ex System and procedures to allow for optimal productivity and safety.

The Haz-Ex armour package consists of modular bonded ceramic composite panels bolted to a steel exo-skeleton protecting the operator from fragmentation and blast effects.  Large ballistic glass panels allow for unimpeded vision.  Operator productivity is virtually the same as an unprotected machine. The entire system weighs approximately 900 kg and can be fitted to any excavator or earth moving equipment.  The armour panels are manufactured locally and can be custom designed to meet specific threat levels.  The modular nature of the system allows for rapid replacement of any damaged panels and easy removal for storage or shipment.

MECHANICAL PROCESSING UNIT (mpu)

XTECH has designed and developed the MPU for areas of UXO risk with high metallic EOW clutter.  The MPU has been proven in active range clearance operations with great success.  The MPU is safe and cost-effective solution for heavily contaminated areas.

DISPOSALS & DEMILITARIZATION

XTECH conducts UXO disposal operations and the transport of explosives to conduct those operations.  XTECH personnel are qualified to carry out Free from Explosives Certifications and the transport and disposal of range scrap.

ORDNANCE AVOIDANCE

XTECH provides expert assistance in the avoidance of UXO and EOW for the purposes of non-EOD intrusive operations.  Support of this nature has been provided to Oil & Gas Industry and to Environmental Investigations.

CHEMICAL WEAPONS CONSULTING

XTECH provides professional advice and recommendations on the Chemical Weapons Convention, chemical munitions, and a wide range of other chemical weapons issues.  XTECH is pleased to have on staff Mr Eric Carter, former Chief Inspector and past Head of the Chemical Demilitarisation Branch (CDB) of the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW).

As Director in charge of the CDB, Mr Carter provided the OPCW with a means to assess the compliance of the member States Parties with their obligations under the Chemical Weapons Convention.  Mr Carter was responsible for the development and implementation of a credible and consistent chemical weapons verification regime.  He chaired consultations and negotiations between the Organisation and the States Parties, providing assessments and recommendations to address verification-related issues with respect to chemical weapons storage, production and destruction facilities.  Mr Carter was also directly responsible for old and abandoned chemical weapon sites and related issues.

Mr Carter represents XTECH at our branch office near Ottawa, Ontario, Canada and can be contacted at mail@xtech-uxo.com.
